Project Case Study
My Role: UX Director, Product Designer
Duration: 12 Months
Team: 11 People
Platform: Web & Mobile App
TTMS (Tag & Title Management System) is a centralized post-sale workflow platform for automotive dealerships. It streamlines the complex processes that occur after a vehicle is sold by connecting dealership staff across finance, title, and accounting departments into one unified workspace. The platform was originally built in ColdFusion with a tightly coupled front and back end.
Over the course of a year, I led a cross-functional team of nine developers (three front-end, six back-end) and one UI designer to architect and execute a full redesign and modernization of the system - migrating to a React front end and ColdFusion API structure for scalability, speed, and maintainability.
The legacy version of TTMS had solid business logic and a loyal user base, but its outdated UI and fragmented workflows created friction. Users found it difficult to locate deals, track tasks, and monitor progress across departments. Information was technically available but not easily accessible or actionable.
Our goal wasn’t to rebuild TTMS from scratch - it was to reimagine how users interacted with it, making it more intuitive, faster, and aligned with the workflows already embedded in dealerships.
The redesign aimed to:
The redesign focused on refinement over reinvention - maintaining TTMS’s proven workflows while improving their usability and presentation. I led the UX direction through the following steps:
1. Dashboard Modernization
The new dashboard gives users a clear, real-time view of deal progress and team performance. Navigation is simplified, and key actions like approvals and notifications are easier to access.
2. Enhanced Deal Status Screen
We redesigned the deal view to make workflows easier to follow, with visual progress tracking, timestamps, and all supporting documents in one place.
3. Mobile and Tablet Experience
TTMS now works seamlessly on mobile and tablet. Staff can update deals, log deliveries, and capture customer signatures directly from the field.
4. Unified Design System
A new design system established consistent colors, components, and typography, improving clarity, accessibility, and long-term scalability.
“It allows for full transparency between departments, enabling us to provide a better customer experience and generate repeat business.” — Laurice, Training Department Director
“Since using TTMS, communication between Sales and F&I has become seamless. It saves time for everyone.” — Von, T&T Platform Manager
Following the redesign, TTMS 2.0 achieved measurable improvements in both usability and team satisfaction:
